We combine local skills practice, trail rides and optional league events. Riders practice in groups suited to their abilities. Check TeamSnap for current locations, schedules and changes.

Spring · Meet the team

Preseason activities and opportunities to meet the team.

02

Summer · Practice and trail rides

Regular practices begin in July, usually two to three times a week, with selected weekend trail rides.

03

Fall · League events

Keep riding with the team and take part in optional PICL races and other league events.

Riders and coaches gather with their bikes before a summer practice.

Coaches who help you learn

Our volunteer coaches complete NICA training. They teach bike handling, trail awareness and basic repairs such as fixing a flat, and help riders progress at their own level.

What to bring

Start with a mountain bike that fits and is in safe working order. Cross-country and trail bikes suit our riding. Ask a coach or bike shop if you need help choosing, and check practice notes for anything extra to bring.

01

Bike and helmet

A properly fitted mountain bike in safe working order, plus a properly fitted helmet to wear whenever you ride.

02

Water and riding gear

Bring enough water for the ride, gloves and eye protection. Comfortable clothing helps; padded cycling shorts can make longer rides more enjoyable.

03

A small repair kit

A spare tube that fits your tires, tire levers, a pump and a cycling multitool. Coaches help riders learn basic repairs and how to use their equipment.

Riding safely and respectfully

Ride safely

Wear your helmet, listen to coaches and ride within your abilities. Keep your bike in safe working order and tell a coach about injuries or concerns.

Stay together

Stay with your practice group, regroup as directed and make sure nobody is left behind.

Share the trail

Be friendly, announce your approach and give other users space. Yield appropriately, respect closures and avoid damaging wet trails.

Be a good teammate

Encourage others, respect volunteers and help care for the places we ride. Effort and sportsmanship matter.
